How to Install Aluminium Fascia and Soffit
Much like other materials of roofline, Aluminium Fascia and Soffits are incredibly easy to install! Their lightweight nature makes them a great choice for a quick and easy upgrade to any property.
Follow the steps below for a smart and seamless installation:
- Ensure all of your materials are sound and suitable for fixing to.
- In most circumstances, start with the soffit sections first and ensure that any closer trims or battens are securely fixed or recesses are cut horizontally in line with the build.
- Starting from a suitable position (normally a corner), securely hold the part in place to the wall and safely secure (if to a trim or recess) or fix using stainless steel fixings according to the material being fixed to. Apply a 6mm bead of the recommended silicone sealant Arboseal 1096 approximately 20mm from one end and all-round the side of a union and place under the fixed part.
- Apply another 6mm bead of silicone sealant to the other end of the fixed part and place the next part over this, allowing a 2-3mm gap for thermal expansion.
- Continue to fit the remaining parts, supporting them at the timber/metal fascia edge.
- For the fascia, work to the same pattern as the soffit and securely fix in place all panels with stainless steel fixings at a spacing of 300mm. There should be no fixings made to the unions as they need to be free when allowing for thermal movement. It is further recommended that a 7mm hole is drilled when using 5mm fixings, as that also allows for thermal movement.
- For a complete finish, ensure that all cut edges and visible fixings are covered with the supplied touch-up paint and that silicone sealant is applied to the expansion gap and then smoothly tooled off.
